Yes. They might well do so. It would depend on the rank of the officer. A subaltern might be a platoon commander and have a sergeant as his senior NCO. Officers in that position often took the night watch, the sergeant the day, It would make sense to share a dugout where they would handover. It might also be shared with the officer's servant.

Thanks for posting the information referring to 'Crossing the Line'. Albeit a short clip of a short film, I have no doubt that the full 15 minutes of it will be intriguing.
