I've seen people request a SDGW lookup and was wondering if some kind person would do me the favour of looking up Joseph Groom for me. His details below are from CWGC. (While they say his rank was Colour Sergeant, his grave says he was a Regiment Sargeant Major and was late of the Nigerian Regiment as well as the KLSI).

Name: GROOM

Initials: J

Nationality: United Kingdom

Rank: Colour Serjeant

Regiment/Service: King's Shropshire Light Infantry

Unit Text: 3rd Bn.

Date of Death: 07/04/1919

Service No: 9865

Awards: DCM

Casualty Type: Commonwealth War Dead

Grave/Memorial Reference: 3773.

Cemetery: BRECON CEMETERY

Thanks.

Nikki.

I take it you have the DCM details ?

I found the bit in the London Gazette online (explaining why he'd received it) and medal card (along with a 2nd medal card for other medals).

could be worth checking out the local paper - might have died due to these wounds
