apwright Posted 25 January , 2007 Share Posted 25 January , 2007 The first entry on this page http://www.pages14-18.com/pagesHistoire/Hi...infanterie3.htm lists where they were, but doesn't say which divisions. Hope it's some help nevertheless. Regards, Adrian

Hoplophile Posted 25 January , 2007 Share Posted 25 January , 2007 The 31° Régiment d'Infanterie spent the entire war with the 10° Division d'Infanterie, which spent the entire war with the 5° Corps d'Armée. The 5° Corps d'Armée spent the first two years of the war (until the middle of June 1916) with the Third Army. After that, it moves around a bit. trenchtrotter Posted 26 January , 2007 Author Share Posted 26 January , 2007 Hoplophile, Many thanks. I have a unit history on the American Voluntary Ambulances that mentions treating wounded soldiers from the 31st during the French assault at Verdun in Aug 1917. Can you confirm if they were there as the post from apwright gives a link which seems to indicate they were not at Verdun in 1917. As always grateful TT
Hoplophile Posted 26 January , 2007 Share Posted 26 January , 2007 Dear TT, You are quite welcome. The 5° Corps d'Armée was with the Tenth Army throughout the month of August 1917. Unfortunately, I don't have my maps handy, so I can't tell you where the Tenth Army was! Best wishes, Bruce PS: My source for all of the handy-dandy French order of battle - I should probably write 'ordre de bataille' - information is http://toaw.free.fr/afgg/
