sotonmate Posted 24 January , 2007 Share Posted 24 January , 2007 Forum For information of the nautical among you. Reading Lloyd's War Losses - First World War in the local Reference Library yesterday,my interest focussed on an Addendum entitled Cargo Ship sinkings by Mine after WW1 had ended, from 13.11.1918 to 2.5.1925. A total of 145 vessels sunk in this way ! 1918 (Nov to end) 13 1919 108 1920 24 1921 19 1922 5 1923 4 1924 1 1925 1 Just when you thought it was safe to go back on the water without a zig-zag course or a team of lookouts ! Michael Lowrey Posted 24 January , 2007 Share Posted 24 January , 2007 Sotonmate, It's also extremely likely that a double digit number of vessels listed in the "Missing and Untraced" section of Lloyd's War Losses - First World War sank on mines without survivors. Best wishes, Michael
