Jim Strawbridge Posted 20 January , 2007 Share Posted 20 January , 2007 A single woman Mabel worked at an hospital at Aix-les-Baines, France. Records at the CWGC show that the cemetery was used by the Hertford British Hospital. The York Minster panels show her under “Auxiliary Hospitals” as Olive Craggs. The cemetery website also shows as “Olive Craggs” and her having died “at the Hopital Britannique”. Her victory medal is presently under my custodianship and is impressed ‘M.O.CRAGGS. B.R.C.& ST.J.J.’.
michaeldr Posted 20 January , 2007 Share Posted 20 January , 2007 Mabel Olive Craggs is also remembered amongst the 20 nurses from the Liverpool Diocese who gave their lives in the Great War. Their memorial is in the cathedral's Lady Chapel; see 'The British Journal of Nursing' June 1929 p.144 here http://rcnarchive.rcn.org.uk/data/VOLUME07...77-june1929.pdf
