Jan Nix Posted 17 January , 2007 Share Posted 17 January , 2007 Pals I have just begun to research a great uncle, Pte Harold Harvey. He survived the war, was a POW and in his photograph he has 4 overseas service chevrons. I'm not sure which regiment he was in, most likely Royal Warwicks or South Staffs. So far I've downloaded two MICs, one kia (obviously wrong man) and one showing entitlement to only the BW and Victory medals whereas I reckon my man served from at least 1915, if not 1914. Is POW always mentioned on MICs? This would help to convince me that I had the right card! What is your experience? All advice welcome Regards Jan
HarryBettsMCDCM Posted 17 January , 2007 Share Posted 17 January , 2007 Is PoW always mentioned on the MiCs? In a word No! Some do have PoW marked but many dont,in much the same way some have DoW or KiA/DoWS,etc,a lot depended on the dedication of the Clerks who compiled them & the information they had to hand. To confirm his regiment it might be easier to see if he is mentioned as a PoW in his{then} Local Paper, most such Casualties were at least listed in the local press. PhilB Posted 17 January , 2007 Share Posted 17 January , 2007 With 4 overseas chevrons, I reckon he must have qualified for at least the 14/15 star. Phil B
