Hello everyone

First time Ive used the site

Im seeking any help in decoding the annotation I obtained from TNA, summary is ......

140287 Gunner Stanhope Gillmon Powers Royal Horse Artillery awarded Victory and British medals, Discharged on demob 31/3/1920.

Annotation Per CRV/227b of 7.4.23 KR 1743/1912/8136/AM

Source - WW1 Medal Card Index Nat’ Archives Kew and Index roll document dated 30 June 1921 Woolwich

On the medal roll there is a tick in the third column - can anyone tell which theatre the third column indicates???

And finally from another source I believe he was serving with W batteryRHA in Meerut India in 1917. From TNA I know W Battery went to Basra Mesopatania (now Iraq) in 1917/8. Has anyone any idea if there are any muster rolls for this battery??

Many thanks

John

John

welcome to the forum

can you post the MIC ? Much easier 2 explain if you can see it

The theatre should either say or have a code. ie 1a, 2b etc that will reveal the place
