Record of service conundrum

Hi chaps,

Hopefully an easy one. On a record of service for an RMLI, he is listed as serving at E.L. Deal for 5 years from 1918. Wondered what E.L. stood for.

Cheers,

Dom

May be a red herring but there was an East Barracks at Deal . East L..... Barracks?

Easy Life?

Post a scan of the offending record.

Scanner buggered, Jack! But it's simply E.L. Deal in the ships and establishments column. He probably deserved an easy life as immediately before he'd served in Zeebrugge Raid!

Cheers,

Dom

I wonder if the 'L' refers to a pay ledger and the 'E' to his department

eg: Engineering Ledger Deal

or Educational Ledger Deal

or ????????????????????

Michael

Michael's got something there. I recall in 1918 "H.B.L." = Home Base Ledger on RMLI records.
