broadtown Posted 12 January , 2007 Share Posted 12 January , 2007 Hi All, Reading Mowthorpe's Battlebags he mentions the Air Construction Corps. My question is:- Did it have a parent base? Did it construct just the Sheds or was it responsible for all Airship infrastructure? Thank you from a very a very airship-unfriendly windy Wiltshire. The Airfield Construction Corps was based at Pulham. They were responsible for much of the airfield infrastructure but I'm not sure of their exact limits. Many of the men were classed as Air Mechanics (General) and were refered to within the RNAS as "Generals" I think they were mainly recruited from the building trades. They operated both in Britain and in France. I have references to 250 Generals being employed in constructing the camp buildings at Luxeuil les Bains for the use of No 3 Wing.
