I have just started researching my great grandfather, Robert William Roberts.

I have attached his mic which I am having trouble understanding

Any help would be much appreciated

Served with 187th Brigade of the Royal Field Artillery.

Earbed the British War and Victory medals (from which we can infer that he did not go overseas before 1916).

Went to France ("BEF").

Was mentioned in despatches (the "Em"). This can be searched in the London Gazette, at Gazettes Online. Despatch certificate and oakleaf emblem for his Victiory Medal ribbon issued to him on 29 April 1920.

His entry in the medal roll is on page 14181 of volume RFA171B. This is held at the National Archives.

MIC on line wo 372/24 doesnt show a MID - but thats not unusual
