scraven Posted 28 December , 2006 Share Posted 28 December , 2006 Can anyone help me with research into my grandfather Gnr H Beeley 296878 or 8454, both numbers are mentioned on his medal card. he was awarded theVictory and British medals and also the MM although this isn't mentioned on the card. (Why not?) The details on his medals are as follows 155 HAB, RGA I cannot find any batteries, battalions or regiments that seem to match. Apparently he served in Italy and had a horse. His MM was in the London Gazette on 18.10.1917 Thats all I can find and its driving me insane!!!!!!!! Any help greatly appreciated Thanks Sharon

scraven Posted 1 January , 2007 Author Share Posted 1 January , 2007 Should be 155th (East Cheshire ) Heavy Battery from his 6 digit number. MM action resulting in award being after approx March / April 1917. Roop Thanks Roop His MM was gazetted in October of 1917 so I am assuming that it was awarded around June/July. Is that correct? Do you know where they were a that time? Family history says he and an officer were sent out on a recce, the officer hid in his bolt hole and my grandfather carried out their assignment alone. Is this the kind of act that would warrant an MM? Regards Sharon
