elliot#1 Posted 22 December , 2006 Share Posted 22 December , 2006 Hi, I have a MIC of a relative and there is not much on it. But in the remarks box it has the term "weeded" in it. I have looked this up and i have found that it means the file has been thinned out. But this main seem obvisious to some people but what does that actually mean? If it means it's been simplified then where would i find the original information? Any help on this would be great, Thanks Elliot.

HarryBettsMCDCM Posted 22 December , 2006 Share Posted 22 December , 2006 In the bad old days, when one had to write to the Army Records Office @ Slough, one would receive;on the odd occasion that the Records weren't destroyed by the Blitz,a resume of a Man's Record with the apology for the paucity of information, due to "weeding" of the Archives, over time, apparently a normal & regular occurence, within the ARO,whereby documents considered by them to be unnecessary were "weeded out" & destroyed, sadly this practice continued presumably until deposited in the NA.
