Is it possible you could supply me additional information (background, where he came from) concerning a Herbert Chadwick?

Herbert was Canadian and served with the Royal Flying Corp during the First World War? He was reported to be killed/missing in action on June 26 1916.

Many Thanks

James.

As he appears to have been born in STOCKPORT, one of the Forum members may have some info on him.

I suspect he added a year onto his age when he enlisted as there is a Herbert Chadwick with a birth registered in Stockport in the Oct,Nov,Dec Quarter which could be him if the CWGC age is correct.

AMII H Chadwick died on 26 June from wounds received on 22 June when he was flying as observer in FE 2b 6334 of No 25 Sqn. The FE was flown by Lt R Sherwell, who wasn't hurt. This is from Airmen Died.

However, The Sky Their Battlefield has a 2Lt H C Hadwick as the observer in 6334 when it was damaged by Anti-Aircraft fire. The pilot, 2Lt L C Angstrom, was wounded.

Regards

Gareth
