John_Hartley Posted 22 November , 2003 Posted 22 November , 2003 The new "utterly off topic" already seems to be posing a problem, in that birthday greetings to our Pal, Fleur, are there as well as here. What is the correct "form"? If posting here, as I have done, it is open to all viewers, including Forum guests. In my view, it shows us to be a friendly, welcoming lot. If, on the other hand, if it is posted in the "off topic" section, guests will not see it as it is not accessible to them (and, in fact, any guests reading this post will not know what I am talking about - if you get my drift). John
Chris_Baker Posted 22 November , 2003 Posted 22 November , 2003 Good question, John. "Utterly off-topic" should be for discussion threads on subjects other than the Great war, this forum, the website or the pals. So pals birthdays - go into chit-chat. Discussions about the flower arranging world cup - into off-topic.
Michael Posted 23 November , 2003 Posted 23 November , 2003 I posted in "utterly off topic" because thats exactly what it was. I merely wanted to say happy birthday to a Pal, not advertise to the world what a nice bunch of people we are. Michael
