Stebie9173 Posted 13 December , 2006 Share Posted 13 December , 2006 The NA misses out one important proviso: That the man did not qualify for the 1914 or 1914-15 Star. Basically it means that he volunteered for overseas duty, served out in the Empire somewhere, and then returned after 1-1-1916 to go to an actual war zone. Steve. Michael Johnson Posted 14 December , 2006 Share Posted 14 December , 2006 The NA misses out one important proviso: That the man did not qualify for the 1914 or 1914-15 Star. My wife's grandfather was a pre-war Territorial in the Civil Service Rifles, and qualified for a trio. When he re-enlisted in the R.C.A.F. in 1941 he put up the trio ribbons plus the TFWM ribbon (which he applied for along with an Efficiency Medal, neither of which he was qualified for). No one seems to have known enough to challenge his ribbons.
Graham Smith Posted 14 December , 2006 Share Posted 14 December , 2006 My GF also has the TF medal to go with his trio
mrfish Posted 19 December , 2006 Share Posted 19 December , 2006 The fact that Issac was entitled to the Territorial Force War Medal indicates that he had either been part of a Territorial Force on or before the 30th September 1914 or had rejoined the TF before that date, having previously served. In either case he would have had at least four years service in the TF prior to the 30th September, and also indicates that he had volunteered for service overseas before the that date (ie signed Army Form E624). Here's a TFWM... ><(((((*>
