Hello Chris

There were one or two other Duchess's but this one seems to fit the bill;

S.S. Duchess, Cargo ship 586 tons, built by Ailsa at Troon. Owner on completion 11.99 J. Hay Glasgow. Collision with Royal Sovereign Light Vessel 1.7.17.

Hope this helps

Regards

John

John

It fits with the accidental death verdict of William Wall whose body was washed up on the Sussex Coast - my thanks
