SiegeGunner Posted 5 December , 2006 Share Posted 5 December , 2006 Can anyone tell me anything about this officer? He was Flag Lieutenant to Admiral Sir Reginald Bacon during the latter's command of the Dover Patrol. I believe he may have remained in the Navy and have eventually become an Admiral himself. Thanks in advance Mick

John. No problem, John — thanks for the link. Incidentally the article has Bacon's date of death wrong. He actually died on the 9th of June 1947. SiegeGunner Posted 5 December , 2006 Author Share Posted 5 December , 2006 L V Morgan's obituary from the Times 11-10-1969 Steve, you're a star. Thank you very much. I should have thought to look for him among Bert Ramsey's 'Dynamo' team of ex-Dover Patrol officers. The date of his death deepens a mystery I have been trying to get to the bottom of, as I had been led to believe that he died not long after Admiral Bacon (1947). I was told by a distant relative of Admiral Bacon that, after Bacon's death, Morgan was asked by Lady Bacon to sort and arrange some of Bacon's papers for eventual deposit in an archive. Morgan, however, supposedly died himself not long afterwards and his widow was unable to find or account for the papers when Lady Bacon asked for them back. Now it looks as if I will have to track down Morgan's descendants and see if they know anything. Mick
SiegeGunner Posted 5 December , 2006 Author Share Posted 5 December , 2006 1918 Flag-Lieutenant to Admiral of the Fleet Sir Roger Keyes Thanks, John. Keyes wasn't promoted to Admiral of the Fleet until 1930, so Morgan must have been Flag Lieutenant to Keyes as Admiral in command at Dover, as I think the obit says.
