InkyBill Posted 20 November , 2003 Share Posted 20 November , 2003 Hello Whilst reserching my local war memorial i came across a mistake by the CWGC regarding the initials of one particular man. He was Pte Henry John Clark and he died of wounds recieved by shell fire in August 1915. Since the early 1920's a typesetters mistake saw the initials on his headstone appear as N J Clark and not H J Clark. I am pleased to say that after 80+ years with the help of Terry Denham as well as Roy Hemington of CWGC France this mistake has now been corrected. The whole process took about three months from start to finish. Marc

paul guthrie Posted 20 November , 2003 Share Posted 20 November , 2003 Good work. Roy Hemington is the same guy who helped us rectify the one man with 2 headstones and one with none at Boulougne East. You can see this headstone has been reengaved rather than replaced. This is the same thing that was done for John Glass 87th BN CEF when I demonstarted his date of death was wrong.
