Remembered Today:

Pals Accomodation Exchange

Many Pals have now met up by a variety of means and I wonder if the social side of the Forum could be improved if a method could be found to link Pals able/willing to offer occasional overnight accomodation to other Pals occasionally seeking it.

As a for instance I was kept late in Manchester on business recently and didn't fancy the late night drive back after a hard day. Finding a hotel would have been an expensive exercise so I bit the bullet and drove back dog-tired fired up with coffee and redbulls.

Stopping off with a Pal somewhere on the way south out of Manchester would have been an attractive option (at least for me !).

I am not suggesting that this service should be offered for free. I would suggest a "Thank you" payment of £20 or so i.e enough for a good Great War book. Could be a life saver in the case of calamitous weather, closed airports , railways etc. Would also suggest that a Pal would need to be an established Forum member for say 6 months or so to get the listing (Perhaps Chris could distribute it for a small fee for Forum funds.)

If a pal used the service as both guest and landlord equally over time, then it would be revenue neutral but both useful and a guaranteed way of making new friends.
