CarylW Posted 23 November , 2006 Share Posted 23 November , 2006 Back in the days when I just had a passing interest in the Great War I read a book about the Tunnellers of WW1 The book was fiction, an account of one tunneller and his unit's horrendous experiences The author was a woman and for the life of me I can't remember the title or the author The book is long gone but I'd lke to read it again Can anyone help please? Jarvis Posted 26 November , 2006 Share Posted 26 November , 2006 Threre is a book I've recently read called The Tunnelers that fits the description but the author appears to be a man Raymond Hitchcock - perhaps there are several such fictional tunnelling books ? Its not a bad read, either way.
CarylW Posted 28 November , 2006 Author Share Posted 28 November , 2006 Jarvis Many thanks for your reply. This could well be the book I had in mind It's quite a while ago, so it's possible I may have my wires crossed Caryl

MartinWills Posted 29 November , 2006 Share Posted 29 November , 2006 The Hitchcock had a cover with a (well known) picture of two or three tunnellers at a the front of a bore ....
