Owen D Posted 16 November , 2006 Share Posted 16 November , 2006 Soren, if this is 1916 he wouldn't be wearing the small box respirator on his chest but carry pH helmet over his shoulder in a haversack/bag. Do like pose of chap in background.

Actually, the chances of a Machine Gunner getting a SBR in 1916 were very high - specialist troops (RFC, Tank Corps, Machine Gun Corps, Royal Army Medical Corps, etc) were on the priority list for receiving them due to the important roles they played. Mores to the point, where's the bipod on the Lewis ???

Desmond7 Posted 17 November , 2006 Share Posted 17 November , 2006 You could dedicate it to this guy ... Rfmn. McMullen, being the only man left of his team of Lewis Gunners, entered the German ine with Lewis Gun and two magazines and fired from his shoulder at the Germans in the econd. line. He retired with the company and brought the Gun with him. Except he was one of the very few who actually got into the German front line/outposts on the other side of the Ancre. Basically he was fighting on the Beaucourt side of Ancre Riv. cemetery!
Ozzie Posted 19 November , 2006 Share Posted 19 November , 2006 Fact is so much better than fiction, Des. Thanks for that. Soren, excellent as usual. Love the way you can convey things with lines. (Don't know the correct terminology) Cheers Kim
