armourersergeant Posted 12 November , 2006 Share Posted 12 November , 2006 I have seen the army lists but until recently I did not realise, as I seem now to think, that there may be a difference either by publication date or by 'type'. That is I have looked at Harts army list adn army list. I assumed them to be the same. However I have seen some lists that give positions and others that give a small potted bio of the officer. So I am wondering what is the difference is it the date or the 'type' ie Harts different to the non named list. Does that make sense? Arm
PhilB Posted 12 November , 2006 Share Posted 12 November , 2006 Found this, Arm:- (From 1839 to 1915 Hart's was published in addition to the official Army List). Phil B
armourersergeant Posted 12 November , 2006 Author Share Posted 12 November , 2006 So it could be the Hart's that gives potted bios of the officers career then!? thanks Phil Arm
Glosters Posted 13 November , 2006 Share Posted 13 November , 2006 The official Army List is a list of officers with some very basic career dates. Hart's Army List includes a small entry about the campaigns and medals of each officer. Steve
