Remembered Today:

Army List and or Hart's Army list

I have seen the army lists but until recently I did not realise, as I seem now to think, that there may be a difference either by publication date or by 'type'. That is I have looked at Harts army list adn army list. I assumed them to be the same.

However I have seen some lists that give positions and others that give a small potted bio of the officer. So I am wondering what is the difference is it the date or the 'type' ie Harts different to the non named list.

Does that make sense?

So it could be the Hart's that gives potted bios of the officers career then!?

thanks Phil

The official Army List is a list of officers with some very basic career dates.

Hart's Army List includes a small entry about the campaigns and medals of each officer.
