wilkokcl Posted 12 November , 2006 Share Posted 12 November , 2006 Can anyone help me with what is written in the "Remarks" section of the MIC for a 2nd Lt in the 2nd DG? Many thanks, Mark
jblake66 Posted 12 November , 2006 Share Posted 12 November , 2006 Mark, This is a shame and makes me appreciate ballpoint pens all the more. I'm not sure how much of this you were able to read but I get the general picture that this man's Victory and British medals were 'returned for amendment' and reissued but I can't make out the reason. I also can't read any of the last line other than 'reissued'. I can see the CRV (Certified Receipt Voucher) before the ink spot and then what looks like a date in April of 1921? PM me if you'd like me to forward you the copy I photoshopped (it was far too large to attach here). Jane
wilkokcl Posted 12 November , 2006 Author Share Posted 12 November , 2006 I quite agree Jane - frustrating! I'll PM you .... Thanks for replying, Mark (Has anyone else got any ideas?)
jblake66 Posted 17 November , 2006 Share Posted 17 November , 2006 Mark, Still scratching my head over this one. Do you know anything else about this man that might shed some light on this? Did he survive? Jane
Stebie9173 Posted 17 November , 2006 Share Posted 17 November , 2006 There looks like there is a Reference to "Comm" = Commission, and "R M Coll" is probably royal Military College, Sandhurst? Steve.
jblake66 Posted 18 November , 2006 Share Posted 18 November , 2006 Steve, Good job! Funny how easy it is to see now. I would never have gotten "comm" out of those scratch marks in a million years. Jane
