Can anyone tell me what Battery/units/battalion were attached to the RGA at Maker Barracks, was this just a training barracks or perhaps use for defence.

Thanks...

Tony,

Just discovered for myself where the Maker Barracks are !

Part of the Rame Forts built to protect the Plymouth Naval base over 200 years ago,Maker Barracks was added around 1785.

I would assume that the Barracks were home to No 3 Depot RGA,both Heavy/Siege and Coastal, for the 1914-1918 War,according to the Long Long Trail. It may be that the Heavy/Siege element of the Depot was responsible for training and posting new recruits to the battlefront and the Coastal element a defensive force.

I would be interested to see what else transpires from this !

Best wishes

Thanks again..
