Guest beale Posted 6 November , 2006 Share Posted 6 November , 2006 My grandfather who I sadly never met was in the Royal Horse Artilery and I have downloaded his campaign medal and wondered if anyone could enlighten me as to what it all means. Sadly there are no theatre of war details which I had hoped for. Beale H S Corps : R.H.A Reg No : 130730 Remarks Comm. RFA (SR) 23-10-16 20 5/22 EF/5/9890 extd from EF/9/4149 He survived the war to return to a very peaceful life in Dorset never speaking about his experience so any information would be greatly received. Many thanks Mark
Armoured Farmer Posted 6 November , 2006 Share Posted 6 November , 2006 Interesting that no rank is recorded. The remarks mean that he was commissioned into the Royal Field Artillery (Special Reserve) on 23rd Oct 1916. There is a possibility that his service history survives. If it does it will be in Class List WO 339 or less likely WO 374 at the National Archives. You will find out more on the paerent site the Long Long Trail, the link is at the top left of this page.
