Guest wacks Posted 21 October , 2006 Share Posted 21 October , 2006 Hi, I’m researching for a book on Almina, 5th Countess of Carnarvon. She opened a hospital for wounded officers at Highclere Castle during August 1914. Almina also opened a nursing home in 1915 at Bryanstone Square in London, which cared for injured airmen from the Royal Flying Corps. Does anyone know of any records and/or accounts of servicemen that were patients at Highclere/Bryanstone Sq during WWI? I did see a posting on this forum about David Campbell of the Royal Irish Rifles who was transferred to Highclere from the Gallipoli conflict. I’d be interested in learning about his arrival at Southampton, transfer to Highclere and what he wrote about the hospital.
sotonmate Posted 9 November , 2006 Share Posted 9 November , 2006 Wacks I don't know if the Liddell Hart Centre for Military Archives at King's College can help. They keep RAMC records and it just may be that they have some useful archive on your subject. Best wishes Sotonmate
