Stereo photograph cards of World War One

The Mary Evans Picture Library has recently loaded some new images.

From their newsletter:

A series of stereo photograph cards of World War One is one of the recent additions to our website. The cards were originally made for viewing through a stereoscope which optically merged the two identical photographs into one 3D image. They are a powerful record of the times, and complement our other material documenting the First World War.

Visit here.

Perhaps they will be of interest to forum users.

Good quality pictures for ones taken such a long time ago, Gwyn.

Were the Sikh soldiers still on the Western front in 1917 ? ( I don't honestly know, but never thought they were). Maybe it isn't the Western Front, I don't know but the trenches look of a much earlier variety.
