Direct Hit

Did many Pals see John Simpson's programme last night showing a direct hit on their press convoy by a 1000 lb bomb dropped by an American F 14? It graphically depicted the absolute, shock, horror and confusion of the immediate aftermath. None of the accompanying Kurdish fighters and US Special Forces would have been in a position to repell an immediate attack by the Iraqis (had that hppened), and it brought home what it must have been like in the Great War when a trench received a direct hit.
