Remembered Today:

Oswald Allan Wright

Recommended Posts

Oswald Allan Wright was born in Liverpool on 8/8/1889.

He served as a Stoker in the Royal Navy from 3/4/1908 until he was discharged medically unfit on 25/9/1917.

At some point after this he died and his family received his 1914-15 Trio and death plaque.

I can't find him on the CWGC website so he possibly died after their cut-off date. (unless of course his details are omitted from their database)

Does anyone know how I can trace when he died and where he was buried?

There is a mention of Oswald on the National Archives website:

Hello Derek,

your link is not working. Is it this one: -

http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/documen...p;resultcount=1

Perhaps you need a lookup in this document at Kew: -

ADM 242/10 War graves roll: R - Z 1914-1919

http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/catalog...;accessmethod=5

It may tell you when he died, and if it does, where he is commemorated/buried. Although it is a long shot if had been discharged before death.

Regards

Farmer

Farmer,

Yes that was my man, I don't know why my link didn't work

What does the War Grave Roll give me? What information does it contain?

Basic information, name, rank number etc, also next of kin and address, basic cause of death and where buried/commemorated.

Stressing, that he may not be there.

Regards,

Farmer
