Quite superb collection. Worthy of a better place than Ebay. Roland.
Soren Posted 14 October , 2006 Share Posted 14 October , 2006 What a fabulous archive, really should be in a museum..... beautiful!
gporta Posted 14 October , 2006 Share Posted 14 October , 2006 I agree with Soren. One only hopes the private purchaser who gets it puts it to a good end (i.e.: publication, exhibition...). As seen in the ebay page some of the sketches are wonderful character studies: as the saying goes, there an image is indeed worth a million words. Wonderful colours, too, particularly in the group of soldiers in the lorry. Gloria
chris.wight Posted 14 October , 2006 Author Share Posted 14 October , 2006 This is an absolutely phenominal WW1 offering of artwork, drawings and letters that belong in a museum. Wouldn't it be a pleasant change to see the seller say, "On second thought, I've decided to stop the auction and donate these to a museum"!
