South African Troops in France

Does anyone know the arrival date of the South Africans in France? I obviously know that they served with distinction at Delville Wood, July 1916, and that South African units earned the 1914-15 Star in the various campaigns in Africa, but how many SA units qualified for it in France?

The South African Brigade joined 9th Scottish Division in April 1916.

You can get the Divisional history from Naval & Military Press.

South Africans won two of the seven VCs in the Division.

Pvt William Henry Faulds, 1st SA Regt, 18th July 1916, Delville Wood.

L Cpl William Henry Hewitt, 2nd SA Regt, 20th Sept 1917, Ypres
