HarryBettsMCDCM Posted 11 October , 2006 Share Posted 11 October , 2006 It is a Silver War Badge Card! they usually have a "Rubber Stamped" section for Campaign Medals,I would imagine your man has anoher Card{try a Surname search,he may well have served with other Unit{s}
Stebie9173 Posted 11 October , 2006 Share Posted 11 October , 2006 It's an SWB only one. Either he didn't serve overseas or there is another MIC around. The SWB Rolls should give Y or N for overseas service. It's King's Regulations 392 Section XVI - No longer fit for service (S denotes sickness, W denotes Wounds) Steve. Armoured Farmer Posted 12 October , 2006 Share Posted 12 October , 2006 The type of card is fairly common and is covered here on the parent site: - http://www.1914-1918.net/mics.htm
delta Posted 12 October , 2006 Author Share Posted 12 October , 2006 Steve - thanks for the link - I had seen that one (am his MM card as well) and they are all adding to the picture. The 1901 census shows 3 x Albert Wateridge - only one has the second intial "S"; he was a 17 year old Draper's Porter from Croydon but I am not sure this is the man above Would the date and reason for discharge give any clues? On....... on....... Stephen
Armoured Farmer Posted 12 October , 2006 Share Posted 12 October , 2006 The SWB roll will give give a code reference for discahrge, usually from this list: - dischargetables.pdf http://www.1914-1918.net/discharged.htm Along normally with Wounds or Illness. It should also give an age on discharge. Farmer.
