whkay Posted 7 October , 2006 Share Posted 7 October , 2006 Does anybody have a picture of the airfield and an idea of its location in relation the village? Thanks Mark
Lorraine CJ Posted 7 October , 2006 Share Posted 7 October , 2006 Here is something from Airfields and Airmen – Somme by Michael O'Connor, kindly sent to me by Dolphin. There is a lot more in O'Connor's book about Bertangles, if you're interested. The Red Baron was buried there, Bertangles Cemetery, so you can find lots of photos of the area if you look on internet. Lorraine CJ Posted 7 October , 2006 Share Posted 7 October , 2006 Yes, there are photographs and a detailed map, which I can email you if you want, but cannot post here as it's too heavy. Let me know...

whkay Posted 14 October , 2006 Author Share Posted 14 October , 2006 Very good of you Egbert, I didnt realise that there were squadrons and so airfields based at either side of the village, I had always presumed the airfields were located on the south side..
