At 08h00 this morning (8 November) the 43rd Infantry Regiment of the French Army wil perform a ceremony to commemorate the 85th anniversary of the execution by German firing-squad of Léon Trulin, an 18-year-old Lille youth shot for his resistance activities. The ceremony will take place at a monument erected to his memory facing the north-western walls and ditches of the Lille Citadelle.

All interested in the brutal occupation should read The Long Silence by Helen McPhail, available in paperback, excellent. The horrors of the German Army in WW2 were not new.
