Remembered Today:

HMS Stephen Furness

Hi,

I recently bought a very interesting memorial card to John Ernest Atkinson Cross, lost on HMS Stephen Furness when it was torpedoed on the 13th December 1917. However, I cannot find mention of him on the CWGC site.

Any ideas why this may be?

Thanks a lot.

Charles, you're a star!

Yes, that's him. It says on his card "beloved son of Sidney and Ada Cross", so it's definately the right one.

Very pleased about that.

By the way, any idea what kind of information would be on the national archives document?

Cheers

Steve,

The NA have his Service Documents, Date joined size hair colour where he trained, ships etc, but not a terrific amount as he was only 17. Other than having his original Documents about the best you will get on researching someone.

Regards Charles
