Beneath the date of embarkation is I think,a notification of issue of "Emb",ie: The MiD {Mention in Despatches} "Oak Leaves Spray" emblem with date & authorisation code reference.

The References by "R Fus/38/18" pertain to the Medal Rolls his awards were issued from& the actual date of issue:~ 23:1:22.

The other code in the bottom corner is probably just an internal Army Medal Office reference to a long forgotten communique.

He was indeed Mentioned In Dispatches, London Gazette#31138, dated 22nd January 1919.

London Gazette online is causing me all sorts of problems tonight  so I've attached the details from The Times instead.

Hope it helps

Hello SteveE,

Is it possible for you to do a MID search for Thomas James Edward Courtie RGA?

Thanks and regards,

Norman Poole

Mind you, it may be misspelt as Courtice.
