Armoured Farmer Posted 29 September , 2006 Share Posted 29 September , 2006 No, his MIC only tells you that he was in the Gloucester Yeomanry and was entitled to the British War & Victory medals. To find out more you would have to look at Kew for his service papers if they survive.
Coldstreamer Posted 29 September , 2006 Share Posted 29 September , 2006 this MIC doesnt show discharged through wounds But then the MIC is the start of the story. Ive medals to a CG officers seriously wounded enough not to go back to France but nothing on the mic soldiers papers (if they exist) should tell you or check the Times for casualties (bit hit and miss though)
HelenV Posted 3 October , 2006 Author Share Posted 3 October , 2006 Thank you both for your help. How do I check the Times to see if he was recorded? Thanks, HelenV
HarryBettsMCDCM Posted 3 October , 2006 Share Posted 3 October , 2006 MiC generally only record Men as being Discharged when they applied for & received a Silver War Badge,if they didnt then often it is unrecorded, but the actual Medal Roll page{the reference follows the BWM/Victory on the card}may have a discharge date/disembodiment date on it
