Canadawwi Posted 27 September , 2006 Share Posted 27 September , 2006 I am trying to track down a few background details for: Flt. Lt. Merle Livingstone Green Rank: Lieutenant Regiment/Service: Royal Air Force, 65th Sqdn. Age: 26 Date of Death: 06/08/1918 Additional information: Son of Mrs. Jennie Green. The name "Flt. Lt. Merle Green" appears on Centenary Methodist Church's roll of honour plaque in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. His attestation is not with the Canadian records. I am trying to verify whether the man listed on the CWGC is the same man as listed on this plaque. Is there a book or listing somewhere that provides further details for airmen? Thanks in advance, Marika
Dolphin Posted 27 September , 2006 Share Posted 27 September , 2006 Marika Chris Hobson's Airmen Died in the Great War usually lists the place of origin of fallen fliers, but it doesn't for Lt M L Green. His absence from Canadian records could indicate that he joined the RFC direct, either in Canada or in the UK, rather than transferring from the CEF. Lt Green was killed flying Sopwith Camel D6248 when he collided with another aircraft from No 65 Sqn, Camel F6069 flown by Lt Sydney Arnold Smith, from Halifax, Nova Scotia, near Cardonette on 6 April 1918. I hope that this helps. Gareth
