After years of waiting, the website listing the 1,300,000 French war deaths is now open. It lists the surname, forenames, dates of birth and death, place of birth and death, rank, unit, place of recruitment, army number, date and location of the death certificate and circumstances of the death.

The URL is: http://www.memoiredeshommes.sga.defense.gouv.fr/

For direct access to the search engine: http://www.memoiredeshommes.sga.defense.go...rche.php?_Base=

MPF1418&_Lg=fr

The website has a translation into German, English and Spanish.

Happy hunting!

Christina Holstein.

The URL for direct access to the search engine is only half underlined. You need to take in the second line of the address as well.
