Remembered Today:

Air Marshal Sir Lawrence Pendred

The Old Guard

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I'm looking for any information relating to Air Marshal Sir Lawrence Pendred or his son Gerald Pendred who I understand was also in the RAF. I think he was awarded the DFC and KBE, I haven't had much look searching on the internet.

Any information would be great.

Many thanks...

Many thanks guys, very useful.

I'm guessing most of his awards are for distinguished service, are we able to find out what his DFC was for?

He seemed to have got his DFC at the end of WW1 when he was still a flying officer, could this be for gallantry?

Yes, the Distinguished Flying Cross is awarded for gallantry in air operations in the face of the enemy. Often, however, it was gallantry over a period of time rather than one specific event
