Stephanie Posted 20 September , 2006 Share Posted 20 September , 2006 Hi pals, I've chosen GCSE art, and the topic is LANDSCAPES. After much explaining, the teacher has allowed me to do a landscape piece relating to The Great War. I was thinking of a scene of The Thiepval memorial, with trenches weaving through the gravestones and crosses. Anyway, any suggestions, ideas? or any war artists covering the whole scene (i.e. not focused on a main soldier)? Remember, im trying to keep this about landscape. Ive found some nice pieces from Paul Nash and Otto Dix. Thanks pals, youre one in a billion! Steph x

Charles Fair Posted 20 September , 2006 Share Posted 20 September , 2006 Steph Longstaff takes some beating. I like CRW Nevinson's black and white landscape drawings too. France produced a couple of fine landscape artists in Francois Flameng click here and Georges Scott click here. Flameng in particular produced many fine watercolours which appeared in the magazine L'Illustration.
