sixbeethree Posted 19 September , 2006 Share Posted 19 September , 2006 I have been given a part completed diary which was written by an officer who was serving at Dieppe in August possibly 1915. He describes boats coming and going as being 'Cleared...Discharging....Intact' What does that mean? Also what was a D D of S and A D of S (S L of C) please. Thank you
joseph Posted 20 September , 2006 Share Posted 20 September , 2006 6x3 Sounds like he was on an Examination ship or working with the harbour master, cleared... to proceed into/ out of the harbour, discharging... unloading cargo, intact... waiting to unload. Could you put the Abbreviations in contex with the diary, nothing rings any bells. Regards Charles
