HMT Bountiful, a hired drifter of 91 tons launched 1911, Admiralty No 1554, Port registration LT1151 (Lowestoft) , armed with 1 x 6pounder AA gun and used as a net sweeper, requisitioned July 1915 and returned 1919.

The ship was not lost.

Hello Chris

Joseph Jarvis was another victim of the influenza. It is interesting to note that as small as BOUNTIFUL was a second RNR Allan Cuthbert died of influenza in BOUNTIFUL on the same day.

All best

I think he was in the Trawler Service: copeis of his RNR service cards are on microfische at Kew, in BT 377/7 and these are filed in service number order. His medals will be listed on the medal roll ADM 171/122 this is a microfilm. If you are going to research his record check his medals first to confirm his number, I would have expected an Enginman to have an ES prefix, S was for stokers.

You should be able to find the file with his recommendation for the DSM by using the ADM 12 indexes.

Dear Chris,

We have spent hours looking for information on Joseph Jarvis, who is my great Uncle. I have a photo of him in naval uniform and also a dodgy (paid for) copy of his naval records. Also have a copy of Joseph's birth certificate. So pleased we found this forum, as I said we spent hours, especially on the National Archives website going round in circles.

Please get in touch to discuss further.
