I have found this MIC for what I think is a distant relative, and a mentioin the Gazette.

I was wondering what exactly the "Imperial Remount Command" was?

Also on the Gazette what "Mila." stands for?

From the the MIC and Gazette information would this be a retired Major brought back into service during the war?

I have not come across Imperial Remount Command

but I have seen references to those purchasing horses/mules [for Britain] in the Americas during WWI being described as the 'Remount(s) Commission'

Bit of a long shot and therefore treat with caution,

but I wonder if the official name might have been the Imperial Remount Commission?

regarding 'Mila' - I think that this is probably short for Militia

Yes you are correct just went back to the NA and the correct trem is commission not command.
