Hi

I have just discovered my great great uncles MIC, can any one help glean the information off this card.

He was in the 9th battalion in thePrince of Wale's Own(West Yorkshire Regiment)

He entered the theatre of war 22-12-1915

Has anybody got any info on where he could possibly have fought he is buried in Serre cemetary

I have attached his MIC post-14909-1157897750.jpg

Thanks in hopeful advance

Sandra

Have you checked on the "Long Long Trail" link @ the head of this Forum, which will give details of where each Battalion served, you could obtain the War Diary for the Battalion & the entries for the day {& a day or so either side} he was KiA will hopefully give some insight as to where they where @ the time

Thanks for that.

I have had a look and found that he was in the 11th division but as no battles were taking place at that time i'm intrigued as to how he died any clues?

Cheers

You often find odd men picked off by snipers or hit by shell bursts when nothing else was apparently happening, usually when on trench digging or victuals collections etc.
