MACRAE Posted 10 September , 2006 Share Posted 10 September , 2006 I just picked up a numbered lapel badge which says "for distinguidhed conduct in the field on the outer rim and in the centre DCM League and is numbered on the rear 539 . Is there any way i can trace the person whom this belonged to with such a low number i assume its WW1 . Any help appreciated . With the above i got a solid gold badge with M.F.G.B L July 21st 1915 War Confrence . Again any clues as to what it is . Dan
HarryBettsMCDCM Posted 10 September , 2006 Share Posted 10 September , 2006 The DCM League & the Military Medallists Association combined forces in the late 20th Century due to dwindling membership, they still exist & might just possibly retain old Membership registers, the Member number would not neccessarily compute with the date of award of a DCM,not forgetting that the DCM had been in existence for nigh on 65 years by WW1,so the Badge could have been that of a much earlier veteran,or a much later awardee,it would have depended on when they joined the League. PhilB Posted 10 September , 2006 Share Posted 10 September , 2006 They appear to have misspelt "medallist". But, if an MM winner wishes to call himself a medalist, that`s fine! Phil B
