eltoro1960 Posted 4 September , 2006 Share Posted 4 September , 2006 I was wandering around a local cemetery, as you do, and noticed this young lad's name on a headstone. He is buried in Linselles Cemetery in France. Can anyone shed any light on either his death or the Squadrons activity at the time. Thanks.

eltoro1960 Posted 4 September , 2006 Author Share Posted 4 September , 2006 Tremendous guys, I did a little digging and found this German website, it seems Walter had two brothers and all appear to be decorated war heroes http://www.frontflieger.de/3buelow0t.html Unfortunately all in German, but Walter appears to be KIA 6 January,1918 , Conrad 11th Auguts 1918 and Harry survives to become a reserve oficer in the Luftwaffe in WW2 and lived until 1976. I take it back there is a link to change the language to English!
Adrian Roberts Posted 4 September , 2006 Share Posted 4 September , 2006 Love Conrad's hat - anyone know what unit it was for, or was he wearing it for a bet? Harry was one of the very few men to shoot down aircraft in both world wars. He was born and died in the family castle in Schleswig-Holstein Adrian
eltoro1960 Posted 4 September , 2006 Author Share Posted 4 September , 2006 The Totenkopf hat was used by Prussian and Brunswicker Hussars during the great war, so he was probably a Hussar before transferring to to the Air Force, incidentally if you look at the Queens Hussars headgear they use the skull and crossbones to this day and use the motto 'Death or Glory'
