audreyf Posted 4 September , 2006 Share Posted 4 September , 2006 Hi Can anyone possibly help find the O'connor brothers casualties of ww1.I have so little information.I dont know their christian names just that their mother lived in Acorn St in Sheffield. She had a memorial plaque fixed on her wall and always lead processions on Armistace Day. I've tried War Graves Commision but they could'nt help. I would be most grateful if someone can help Thank You Audrey
marc leroux Posted 4 September , 2006 Share Posted 4 September , 2006 Audrey, there were 409 O'Connors killed in the Great War, so without anything else to go on, it is going to be a daunting task. You can get a list of the men at the Commonwealth War Graves Commission website (link) Put in O'Connor as the surname and First World War as the war. Some of the entries have notes that refer back to the parents, so you might luck out that way. good luck marc
aliecoco Posted 4 September , 2006 Share Posted 4 September , 2006 Hi Audrey, Have you tried keying in Acorn Street on the 1901 census, to see if that comes up with anything? If you key in the mothers name and address, it might say who else was living there at the time. Hopefully her sons! Just a thought. Alie.
