This is the gazette date - guessing MM won a few months before

The local Bathgate paper for the period might give more details

PS

Gazette search on number failed but A. Buchan, R. worked first time - you got to know how the gazette works!

Hi John,

Found out some more details about 26697 Cpl A Buchan MM:

Medal Index Card shows service with the 12th Battalion Royal Scots.

2nd Battalion War Diary shows:

Cpl Alexander Buchan A Company 2nd Royal Scots was presented with his Military Medal on the 29/10/1917 by the Corps Commander.

The Medal was probably awarded for his actions at Passchendaele (The Third Battle of Ypres) 26th - 30th Sept 1917.

Hope this Helps

Tom
