MelPack Posted 1 September , 2006 Share Posted 1 September , 2006 Can anyone enlighten me as to the nature of the following organisation: Medal card of Fatensova, Ekatrina V Corps Regiment No Rank Russian Ladies Archangel Sister It is obviously a medical unit of some description but what were its antecedent links to the counter-revolutionaries? Sue Light Posted 1 September , 2006 Share Posted 1 September , 2006 It is obviously a medical unit of some description but what were its antecedent links to the counter-revolutionaries? Crikey Mel, I'm not sure I understand the question However, I think this refers not to any particular unit, but is just the terminology used to refer to 'Russian Ladies' who were Nursing 'Sisters' with the Russian Red Cross. There had been medical and nursing help supplied by the British to the Russian allies from 1915, and a British Hospital at the Dmitri Palace in Petrograd, where British nurses and Russian Red Cross nurses worked side by side. The Russian nurses at the Dmitri Palace would not have qualified for British Medals, and I think that the many Russian women who did get them would have qualified by giving nursing care to British troops serving with the North Russia Expeditionary Force in 1918-19 - presumably in Archangel Sue
